ചുരുക്കിപ്പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ പ്രേതം മനുഷ്യരുടെയൊരു തോന്നലാണെന്ന് സിനിമ തെളിയിക്കുന്നു. ഇത്തരം സിനിമകളും മനുഷ്യരുടെയൊരു തോന്നലായിരുന്നെങ്കില്‍ എന്ന് വൃഥാ മോഹിച്ചു പോകുന്നു.

കൊന്തയും പൂണൂലും എന്ന പേര് കേള്‍ക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ന്യൂ ജനറേഷന്‍ കാലത്തെ വിപ്ലവ വിത്താണെന്ന് പ്രേക്ഷകര്‍ തെറ്റിദ്ധരിച്ചേക്കാം. എന്നാല്‍ കാഴ്ചയിലെ രണ്ട് മണിക്കൂറില്‍ ഇതില്‍കവിഞ്ഞൊരു പീഢനമുറ തിയറ്ററിനകത്ത് നടപ്പാക്കാനാവില്ലെന്ന് ബോധ്യമാകും.

The mystery that builds around the character Krishnan played with brilliant restraint by Kunchako Boban stays on, one of the very few factors that make the film watchable.

On the whole, the film has a different story line, and is strongly recommended for suspense thriller lovers.

A series of absurdities placed against each other, make an incoherent mess called 'Konthayum Poonoolum'. The film, directed by Jijo Antony is easily one of the most baffling films that I have watched in recent times, and baffling need not always necessarily mean good.

Konthayum Poonoolum tries to package too many things, but ends up as an ineffective potpourri of half-baked stories.

The movie is a good one time watch. Sometimes it seems story bound but at times it feels true to life. The inadequacies project itself more than all that is constructive. Overall this one is a good film but lacks the punch.

The treatment of the first half of the film Konthayum Poonoolum doesn’t have anything really innovative and in fact our experiences with the usual horror films might make things slightly funny. The movie ‘Konthayum Poonoolum’ as the makers proclaimed through trailers and publicity offered a good time with the visuals that are enchantingly deceiving and are staggeringly sumptuous in terms of quality. However, those elements aren’t enough to make it an appealing art.

'Konthayum Poonulum' is by no means an unbearable movie experience. It has its moments and adequate flair and spirit. But the flaws that it has are numerous and sadly by the time the movie is done with, the shortcomings stick out.

It doesn't have any saleble commercial ingredients, though! 'Konthayum poonnulum 'definitely reinvents the genre with its non-formulaic screenplay and skilled direction.  Absolutely recommended, only for the supporters of experimental genres. The fans of formulaic flicks , please don't take a chance.
